Last Sunday, 6th March 2016 the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering played host to the U16 Last 8s (Quarter Finals). RVB Boys earned their place in the National Finals gold medal match by winning their Semi-Final match 2-0 (25-17, 25-16) against New Forest (Hampshire). Read More
For the first time in our history we had two girls teams in the U16 Last 8s. The B team were in a very tough group with Beach Academy, Tameside and Boswells and even though they didn’t win a match they acquitted themselves extremely well.
The A team, trying to reach their second final in 2 years, topped their group without dropping a set against Black Country, Westminster and Taunton to set up a best of 3 set semi-final against Tameside. After winning the first set 25-17 our girls took an early lead in the second only to lose narrowly 25-23. Tameside then broke away in the decider to win 15-9. Well done to all 21 girls, it was great weekend!!!!
The first round of games for this year’s U18 Grand Prix took place this weekend at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering. The top 8 teams from the U18 National Championships had the chance to once again go head to head, this time over the best of 5 sets.
In Pool A, Richmond Boys enjoyed a 3-2 roller coaster win against Black Country VC and a 3-0 loss against National Championship Finalists Boswell School. RVB boys have a chance to secure a semi-final qualifying place in the group but will need a win against Wigan Seahawks on the 28th Feb.
In Pool B, Richmond Girls dispatched Ashcombe VC with a comfortable 3-0 victory and lost to Graveney Malory Eagles 3-1. The girls also have a chance to qualify to the semi-finals and will to win against Wessex Leaf.
We wish both teams good luck on the 28th Feb.
Richmond U16 Girls made history today with both the A and the B teams qualifying for the last 8 of the National Cup, beating Newcastle Staffs and Ashfield Vipers!!! Congratulations to all the girls but especially to the B team who showed real character to overcome Ashfield from a set down to finish second in the pool.
Five u15 Richmond Volleyball players, Anna Keefe (Gumley School), Mattea Goalen, Martha Bullen (Orleans Park School) Javier Bello & Joaquin Bello (Gunnersbury RC School), have been selected to play for England Cadets in the u17 Sainsburys School Games in Manchester at the beginning of September. Well done! We wish them all the success at the games!
