Sunshine arrives for RVB opening Beach Volleyball Series weekend
On a glorious weekend nearly 40 players can out to Barn Elms Sports Centre and contributed to the success of the 1st Series of Richmond Volleyball Beach Volleyball Tournaments (sponsored by Premier League 4 Sport and Fulham FC Foundation). It consists of two competitions open for all with Saturday (3-a-side for adults and juniors mixed) – level of play beginner/ intermediate /advance and on Sunday’s (2-a-side for adults and juniors mixed) level of play intermediate / advance.
Team Bello (Javier & Joaquin u13 and their father Luis) secured their hold at the top of the 3v3 Saturday competition and Rijvers & Bello claimed top place by winning the 2v2 Sunday final against Epiphaniou & Kernchen. This was a great start to the Richmond Volleyball Beach Series where teams and players accumulate points over the next 12 weeks to win ranking points to win the overall Beach Volleyball Series and to qualify for the London Masters Cup (top 16 teams) to be held at the end of the August for prizes and medals.
Richmond Volleyball would like to thank everyone for making the 1st Round of Series 1 a great success and in particular club volunteer (Barbara Echevarria) and Barn Elms Sports Centre. We look forward to welcoming back all participants and see many new team entries for next weekend.
Additional Information
Anyone can enter a team and new players are welcome to register and challenge the top teams. Places will be accepted on first come – first served basis so the earlier you apply the better your chances will be of securing a place (max 16 teams). Teams can compete in 1 or all qualifying tournaments (excluding 3 series finals).
The RVB Beach Series offers great value – team entry per event is £25.00 for Saturday’s 3v3 and £20.00 for Sunday’s 2v2, plus all players must join and pay the annual beach volleyball club membership fee at £15.00 (which includes a free beach vest). Team registration deadline is 3 days prior to the start of competition (pending availability). Email confirmation will be sent out on Wednesday or Thursday to confirm format and playing order. Match day registration is 9.30am with 1st matches start at 10am.
