Dream Start for RVB Women in NVL1

After a long journey to  Cardiff Richmond team started a bit slow but after just a few points found  its rhythm and perfectly implemented a game plan – doing simple things very well and play aggressive when necessary..

First set went to RVB with a convincing 25-17 score secured by some great serving by Linsday and Laura some powerful middle spikes by Laura,  some well defended balls by Beth and good overall play by all the team.

Second set started as RVB  left the first set, aggressive,fast tempo, team spirit and great game management. Some amazing points scored by Laura and well setting distribution by Brandi and Lisa saw RVB finished the set at 25-20.

There was a little loss of concentration in the third set, but after a timeout and some shifts in the lineup the team got back on track with some great blocks by Laura, well placed spikes by Aurelia and some key points by the Captain Katie Just two points ahead at the end but enough to close the third set and the game at 26-24 making the 4 hours journey back more pleasant.

Coach Giorgio Scatigna-Gianfagna “GSG” commented: ” Great 3 points! It was a long distance away match which is always more challenging but we imposed our game. The Players worked very hard during the pre- season and today some of the that work paid off. I start believing that this group of players is very special, and we just need to work together and focus on one game at the time. I have a good feeling about this season! Back to training on Tuesday and carry on working. ”

MVP for RVB was  Lisa and taking home till next game our new mascot “Volley’.
