PL4S South London Junior Volleyball Winter League 2011
12th December 2011
Having launched the PL4S South London Junior League last February the league has just completed the 1st Winter League Series and with over 20 teams (over 100 junior players) competing in various age groups the league witnessed unprecedented scale of growth for volleyball in South London.
The Winter League (Sept to Dec) produced some fantastic tournament matches enjoyed by all players, officials and parents. The league is supported by Premier League 4 Sport and Fulham FC Foundation and administrated by Richmond Volleyball. The structure marks a significant stage in the development of junior volleyball in South London offering local competition for boys and girls of various age groups (4-a-side for u11-to-u14 boys & girls and 6-a-side for u15-to-u18 Boys & Girls) building their confidence and enjoyment in the game and thereby supporting additional pathways for junior people to progress to higher levels of play.
David Rijvers (PL4S Coordinator) commented, thank you to Fulham FC and to all the all teams who took part in the Winter League in particularly Chadwell Heath and Eastbury who traveled from East London adding so much to the programme. Congratulations to all winning teams and thanks to the mums and dads that can along to support and help.
The league will resume again for all age groups in January 2012 for the Spring Series and will be held on Sunday’s from 12-3pm at Kingston College Arena (central venue). The league is open to new and existing players and teams of advanced, intermediate and beginner level. If there're willing volunteers to help co-ordinate the league, we would also be pleased to hear from you too!
