U12 Richard Challoner takes Gold at Kingston Borough Finals

Richard Challoner boys has taken gold in the 1st u12 Kingston Secondary Schools Boys Borough Volleyball Finals and stormed to victory against strong competition. The event has held at Tiffin Boys School consisting of 12 teams from 5 Schools (Coombe Boys Southborough, Richard Challoner, Tiffin Boys and Hollyfield).
In Group A the two main challengers Richard Challoner 1 (1st) and Richard Challoner 3 (2nd) progressed to the semi-finals with wins against Tiffin 3, Coombe 2, Hollyfield 2, and Tiffin 1. In Group B it was Coombe 1 (1st) and Tiffin 2 (2nd) who qualified to the semi-finals with victories over Tiffin 4, Hollyfield 1, Richard Challoner 2, and Southborugh 1.
In two very close semi-finals Coombe 1 beat Richard Challoner (18-16) and Richard Challoner 1 won against Tiffin 2 (14-13). The final was a competitive game and provided some great entertainment with Richard Challoner showing the greater consistency over Coombe and were worthy champions winning 27-8. The 3rd and 4th play-off was won by Tiffin 2 (22-17).
Medals were presented to the winners and runners by Mike Skinner (Richmond & Kingston Competitions Manager and Great Britain 5000 meters Sporting Champion) and David Rijvers (Richmond Volleyball Schools Coordinator and ex GB/England Senior).
Richmond Volleyball Schools Coordinator commented, the boys finals was a great success. Over the course of the four weeks Richmond Volleyball coaches engaged with over 100 young people to prepare the teams. All the teams learned 3 touch volleyball (dig, set, spike), resulting in some great rallies. Thanks go to all the school teachers, venue host and sport leaders (Sam Barton Yr 8 Richard Challenor, Olly Douch and Tom Cronk Yr 9 Coombe Boys, and Issa Batrane Yr 9 Hollyfield) who helped on the day as scorers and referees. Congratulations to all the boys for an outstanding event.

runs junior sessions for boys and girls at: Tiffin Boys School (Sat 10am), Chessington School (Mon 4.15pm), Coombe Girls School (Thurs 4.30pm) and London Oratory School (Fri 4.30 pm).
