Kingston Girls Qualify to London Youth Games Finals
23rd June 2010
U18 Kingston Girls qualified for the 1st time to the 2010 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games Volleyball Finals to be held at Crystal Palace on the Saturday 3rd July whilst the u18 Kingston Boys team were narrowly edged out in their final match and the finals finishing 3rd in their qualification group.
Kingston girls won seven of their eight group games on Saturday and Kingston boys won
seven of their nine group games on Sunday. Both teams played exceptionally well on the day given that they were one of the youngest teams in the competition all from year 9, 10 and 12 and are all eligible to play again next year. This made their achievement even more impressive as they were competing against players who were two to three years older.
David Rijvers Club Chairman of Richmond Volleyball commented; since launching last year the Richmond Volleyball Junior Development Centre at Tiffin Boys Schools all the players have made great progress in their individual skills and team work through regular training and competition linked via the Kingston and Richmond Schools Partnership Teams, Kingston Active and Fulham FC Foundation. We wish the girls good luck in the finals.
