Sunday Express and IVA take the spoils in 1st 4v4 series
9th June2010
On a glorious Sunday, teams can out to Old Deer Park (Richmond) and enjoyed the 1st of six Richmond 4v4 Grand Slam tournaments that goes on tour across South West London.
Teams travelled to Richmond from across South East England to compete in either the Open Division (for the serious players) or the Mixed division. Sunday Express secured their hold at the top of the Open division winning the 1st final against against Fatality (2-0). In the Mixed Division IVA claimed top place by winning against Tuskers (2-0).
Richmond Volleyball Events Coordinator commented: the entry level was higher from last year and the level of play had also improved with lots of people and junior teams enjoying the matches and making new friends”. The 4v4 Series is different to a traditional grass volleyball tournament as we only play 4v4 and we play a series of six events across South West London not just one weekend developing and promoting the sport. Teams accumulate points over the 6 events to win ranking points for prizes. It also offers great value - participants play a minimum 12 sets per event for £20. Anyone can enter a team- it is open to all ages, abilities and genders.
The next 4v4 Series tournament will be on: Sunday 20th June, Sir Joseph Hood Park (Merton), followed by Sun 4th July, Thornbury Park (Hounslow), Sun 18th July, Fairfield Ground (Kingston), Sun 1st Aug, Gunnersbury Park, and then the finals on Sun 15th Aug, Palewell Common (Richmond)
New teams are still welcome to register and challenge the top teams. Team entry is £20.00 per event. Registration is 9.30am
