The final match between Pin-Lon Spikers and Kingston Red Lions brought in a vociferous and colourful crowd creating an electric atmosphere and served up a thrilling end-to-end finale with Pin-Lon having to work hard to earn their 2-0 victory over a stubborn Lion’s team.
David Rijvers, Chairman of Richmond Volleyball (CCPR UK Sports Club of the Year 2009 & London's Sports Club of the year 2010) and organizer of the South London Volleyball League said: it was a memorable final and great to see over 30 fanatical supporters coming out to support the teams.
The SLVL is a fun, healthy, sociable, but yet competitive competition and since the launch in 2008 the league in 2009/10 drew in 280 mixed adult players and 60 junior players making this London’s most popular and fastest growing indoor volleyball competition.
Team entries for 2010/11 are now being signed-up for two local centres: Richmond and Kingston and maybe another new centre in Hounslow. Division One is for advance/intermediate teams and Division Two is intermediate/beginner teams. The league starts late September and finishes late April. The league also runs sitting volleyball festivals and junior tournaments throughout the season.
