U14 Hampton Boys and Shene Girls peak at borough finals
1st April 2010
For the first time Shene Girls and Hampton Boys triumphant at the 5th u14 Richmond Schools Volleyball Finals stealing the crown from Christ Boys and Waldegrave Girls who have been the winners for the past two years.
The finals were held at Tiffin Boys schools consisting of 4 boys teams (Shene, Christ, Hamtpon B and Hamtpon A) and three girls teams (Grey Court, Shene and Waldegrave) who all qualified from their respective cluster finals held earlier in the year.
In the boys group Christ (winners of cluster B) were favorites having won all their group matches and faced Hamtpon Boys (winners of cluster A) in the final encounter but it was Hampton who held their nerves with a classy 2-0 win (21-19; 21-15). In the girls group Shene surpassed all expectations overcoming Grey Court in the group stages and a resilient Waldegrave team in the final (21-19; 21-20).
Richmond Volleyball Schools Coordinator commented, the Richmond Borough finals was a great success. Thanks goes to all the school teachers, venue host and sport leaders who helped on the day as scorers and referees.
