Celebrating Young Referees Leaders Award success!
14th January 2010
In partnership with Richmond College and Richmond Schools Sport Partnership 27 local young people from years 9 to 10 celebrated success this week completing the Volleyball England Young Referees Leaders Award delivered by Richmond Volleyball Club.
The qualification was offered to seven secondary schools in London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames as part of the Richmond Leadership Academy programme and all the successful students now have an opportunity to use this qualification and referee in the up and coming schools borough volleyball tournaments. It will also create a pathway for the young people to progress to the Sports Leaders UK Young Leader Award which involves 50 hours of community volunteering and 150 hours of physical activity.
Richmond Volleyball Schools Coordinator congratulated the young people in their achievement and strongly believes passionately that education is about helping to build confidence and provide opportunities for our young people to experience success through achievement, and we have been able to realise these goals through the delivery of this programme.
