Richmond romp over Portsmouth in NVL Cup
28th Sept 2009
Richmond middle attacks were the hero’s on the day executing a number of fast combinations inspiring a comfortable 3-0 victory over Portsmouth VC in the 1st round of the National Cup.
D.Cleather and L.Tomášek showed great footwork and dominated the net with several kill blocks and their execution against one man blocks was very efficient. Portsmouth also never looked comfortable with Richmond’s strong serving. By the 3rd set Richmond looked disinterested and played a dangerous game allowing Portsmouth to come close by three points but the middle attackers ensured the game was closed out.
Richmond coach commented, "It was a good performance in the 1st and 2nd sets especially. We lacked fluidity and cohesion with our passing but compensated for strong blocking.
