Richmond announces Junior volleyball programme for 2009/10
11th September 2009
We are pleased to announce six junior training sessions for boys and girls across four boroughs and an events schedule which includes league fixtures in the South London Volleyball League, junior tournaments hosted by South London Volleyball League, tournaments before Richmond Men’s national league home fixtures, and entry into the National Junior Cup for u15, u16 and u18 boys and girls.
This junior structure will ensure the club builds on its success for many years to come. The first
session will start on Saturday 12th September (10-12 noon) at Tiffin Boys Sports Centre. The comprehensive junior volleyball programme is sponsored by Fulham Football Club, Kingston, Richmond and Hounslow Schools Sports Partnership, Sport Unlimited, Kingston College Arena and Tiffin Boys Sports Centre (Kingston).
Richmond Volleyball (clubmark 2 club and UK Sports Club of the Year 2009) Chairman David Rijvers commented; we’re delighted working with strong community partners and we’re extremely excited about the opportunity to host London’s largest junior volleyball development programme linked with 30 secondary schools in four boroughs. Volleyball is one of the top two participation sports in the world (behind football ‘Global Sport Report’ issued by the IOC Feb 2005) and by unearthing new local talent we will be able to support them through our committed junior development pathways’ and help build and strengthen sport in our community. Our environment promotes a fun, fair, and safe environment that maximizes participation and improves players' skills while developing sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-confidence.
