‘Premier League 4 Sport’ volleyball programme creates 5 new junior clubs

Richmond Volleyball was one of the first English volleyball clubs to deliver the Premier League 4 Sport initiative linked with Fulham FC Community Sports Trust.
In total over 60 young people were coached at the five new junior (11 to 17 yrs old - boys & girls) volleyball clubs were created in 3 different boroughs; Tiffin Boys Schools, Chessington Community College & Richard Challenor (London Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames), London Oratory School (London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham) and at Epsom and Ewell High School (Surrey).
Richmond Volleyball Chairman David Rijvers commented, ’We are proud to be involved in this fantastic initiative working with a professional football club such as Fulham FC to help build and strengthen sport in our community together. Volleyball is one of the top three participation sports in the world (behind football ‘Global Sport Report’ issued by the IOC Feb 2005) and with their pulling power we will inspire more young people to take up this fast and dynamic Olympic team sport. Linking with Fulham FC Foundation will help us unearth new local talent to feed into our club junior development pathways’.
Premier League 4 Sport is a new and innovative Government funded project in partnership with the Premier League to promote and develop opportunities for young people to get involved in community based sport in four Olympic disciplines, judo, volleyball, table tennis and badminton.
