2nd week Summer Volleyball League
11th June 2009
The Richmond Volleyball mixed summer league is only in its second week and has already grown by 50% on last year with 60 registered entrants. Players have remarked that the standard has significantly improved from last year making the games more enjoyable and competitive. We have also changed the format slightly; we aim to play 4v4 which works better on grass.
With 7 weeks still to go, the battle for the player with most points is heating up. Currently at the top of the table is Henry Szyszko and RezaTowfighi with 13 points each, followed closely by Claudio Longo, Dan Cleather, Andreas Koelblin and Marek Sokolowski all with 12 points. The top female player Renata Zhunusova is on 11 points. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 league players and top female player.
Players who wish to participate in the league are still very welcome. The league is held every Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 8.30pm at Old Deer Park in Richmond.
To enter you just need to turn up (no need to enter a team) and register on the day. The organisers allocate you to a team. League points are awarded on individual basis (not per team). The cost for 9 weeks is £15.00 (adults) and £10.00 (juniors u18). First round of matches start at 6.30 with the 2nd round at 7.30pm
Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world and growing fast in the South West London area. Come and join this faced paced non contact team sport with Richmond Volleyball- CCPR sports club of the year for the UK.
