Richmond Surrey Men gain promotion

Richmond 's regional Surrey Men’s team secured promotion to Surrey League Division One after winning 3-2 at home against Guildford Storm. Richmond claimed 3rd place in the Division 2 and secured automatic promotion as two teams from the same Club are not allowed to be in Division 1.
Although the team had an unusual lengthy four week break they started the match very convincing winning the first two sets comfortably. However Richmond struggled for long periods in the 3rd and 4th and it was Guilford who emerged the stronger after a fractious and disjointed defence. But Richmond deservedly took the lead in the 5th set and kept their noises in front wrapping up the match 15-10.
Richmond Coach commented, well done to the players and club – we achieved our goal and now looki forward to play at the highest level in Surrey Division 1 next season. It’s been a long season and we have created a well-balanced group of juniors and a strong core of senior players giving real good leadership to our younger members to shine.
