Barclays Capital triumph at Corporate Volleyball Challenge
27th April 2009
Barclays Capital was celebrating success on Sunday evening after winning the 2009 Richmond Volleyball Corporate Challenge over coming seven corporate teams in this one day event.
Teams were divided into two groups of four – each played each other once and the top four teams progressed to the semi-finals. In group A UBS can on top (won 3 matches) followed by Revenue & Customs B (won 2 matches) beating BP Energy and FSA. In group B it was Barclays Capital who can on top (won 3 matches) and BP Future 2nd with two match wins against Revenue and Customs 1 and BP Canary Wharf.
The 1st semi-final proved a close battle with UBS beating BP Future (2-1) and in the 2nd Semi-final Barclays Capital convincingly won (2-0) against Revenue and Customs B. Unfortunately the finals proved one game too much for UBS who did not have enough in the tank to overcome a strong Barclay’s performance (won 2-0). The 3rd and 4th play-off match was won by BP Future (2-1) having to work hard against a stubborn Revenue and Customs B performance in defensive.
Richmond Volleyball Event Coordinator commented: The Corporate Volleyball Challenge started 5 years ago, as part of our drive to promote health and wellness among the local corporate community and create a platform to interact informally, improve teamwork and boost company morale. Richmond Volleyball would like to express thanks to all the teams and club volunteers making the 2009 Corporate Volleyball Challenge a fun, friendly and successful event.
