26th January 2009
Richmond Volleyball men remain unbeaten and gained top place in the National League Division 3 after convincing victories over Cambridge 3-0 and Watford Danes 3-0.
In their 1st match against Cambridge Richmond played a fast game and stormed ahead in the 1st set (25-14) providing the momentum and focus to control the next two sets. Cambridge threaten at times with greater height on the net but Richmond maintained disciplined on block and defense to triumph 3-0.
In their 2nd match Richmond again took charge of the 1st set 25-19 and then made several changes to the attacking line out having to work hard coming from behind with strong blocking and some brilliant defence.
Richmond coach commented. It’s was another two wins taking us top of the table for the first time and closer to promotion. We have 3 games in hand over the 2nd placed team Tendring and after a solid team performance with some spectacular blocking by our big 6’6 guys it was a positive day out.
Richmond are next in action at home at Kingston Arena when they play host to local rivals, White Eagles in the ¼ of the National Shield on Saturday 14th February.
