Richmond out perform Canterbury City VC in NVL Shield
8th December 2008
Richmond men's NVL team brushed aside non-leaguers Canterbury City VC 3-0 at Kingston College Arena and progressed to the 2nd round of the National Volleyball League Shield competition.
Richmond started strongly with heavy jump serves and several blocks. In the 2nd set the home team lost their concentration and the visitors nearly caused an upset. In the 3rd set Richmond pulled away quickly with strong defence and quick attacks giving them the cushion to win comfortably 25-17.
Richmond coach commented – it was a difficult game to game to get motivated. The players were professional in their task and did enough to win the game. Richmond is back in league action next weekend when they travel on the road to face Newmarket and Brentwood. They are currently 2nd in the league and aim to keep pace with league leaders Tendring VC.
