Volleyball ranks top 6 team sport in Richmond & Kingston boroughs
24th November 2008
Pro-Active South London recently conduct a South London School Sport Survey throughout the secondary school network with a view to identifying some clear information about what sports young people would like more access to. This survey has generated in excess of 24,000 responses from young people across the sub-region (Richmond, Kingston, Merton, Sutton and Corydon) focusing on 49 individual and team sports.
In Richmond and Kingston boroughs Volleyball scored in the top 6 team sports that secondary school children wished to participate in. In the borough of Richmond Volleyball came 4th behind Football, (25.1%), Basketball (15.5%), Rounders (9.2%), and Volleyball (8.0%). In Kingston volleyball came 6th behind Football (39.9%), Basketball (26.3%), Rounders (15.7%), Cricket (12.7%), Netball (10.2%), and Volleyball (9.8%).
This demonstrates there is much scope for volleyball to continue to develop in these boroughs and Richmond Volleyball is committed building on its current success by being at the heart of developing this Olympic team sport within these communities.
