South London Volleyball League launched successfully
7th October 2008
The players enjoyed it, the spectators enjoyed it! Last Monday Richmond Volleyball and six local teams - Teddington Tide End, Richmond Antlers, Whitton Warriors, Black Bridge, Kingston Knights and Twickenham Titanics successfully launched the South London Volleyball League with opening fixtures’ with skill level much greater then the organizers imagined. Friends and families and passing by spectators added a great deal to a vibrant and friendly atmosphere of this great community event.
All matches will be played at Richmond College on Monday evenings from 7.00 to 10.00pm from October to April 2009 and will comprise of 14 teams across 2 divisions. The league is fully endorsed by Richmond Volleyball partners : Pro-Active South London, Sport Richmond and Volleyball England and was a triumph of organisation and promotion creating 9 new teams of players who either want to get more competition experience and hope to progress to a higher level of play or experienced players who want to have some extra games. The league is open to novice, intermediate and advanced players and offers fantastic value and great social atmosphere.
The league organizers commented: We are delighted that the opening night was such an overwhelming success! We received all very positive feedback. It’s important that it started well as it did and now we've got the first building blocks early in place to create a strong but fun local volleyball league which the community wanted.
