Richmond secures further funding from Sport Unlimited
29th August 2008
Richmond Volleyball has secured another round of funding to run the Sport Unlimited programme (previously called Extended Activities) for young people over the next 20 weeks.
Secondary schools in the London Boroughs of Richmond and Kingston will benefit from the Sport Unlimited funding which is a national initiative that forms part of the Governments 5 hour offer of sport for children and young people. The scheme is about getting more young people termed as Semi Sport to take part in an additional 2 hours of sport and activity per week.
The trailblazer phase got off to a great start last term with over 108 young people
engaged in volleyball and we were very encouraged by the early messages coming from students to continue commented Richmond Volleyball Schools Coordinator. The timeline was incredibly fast but everyone rose to challenge and the achievements to date are a credit to the hard work by Pro-Active South London, School Sport Partnerships and Volleyball England.
