Sitting Sport proves to be a great success
23rd August 2008
Richmond Volleyball provided a FREE two hour sitting volleyball session last Thursday held at
Kingston Arena as part of the
London Summer of Sport all inclusive programme. A total of 21 able-bodied
and disabled players attended and had great fun. The session provided structured skills coaching, game development and a mini tournament.
The Club Secretary said: “This was fantastic because we want people to know that sitting volleyball is a fully integrated sport played literally sitting on the ground with no requirement for special equipment. She continued by saying initiatives and partnerships like the Summer of Sport play a big part in the development of sitting volleyball creating excitement and awareness.
Richmond Volleyball will be running over the winter months a number of sitting volleyball festivals at Richmond College as part of the South London Volleyball League schedule and Richmond Volleyball will also be partnering with Richmond Council in their RISA (Richmond
Inclusive Sports & Exercise) initiative offering more free sitting volleyball opportunities on 20th Sept at Hampton Community College sports centre from 1.30-3pm.
