U13 Coombe Girls come top of the class
25th June 2008
Coombe Girls hosted the first u13 Kingston Schools Girls Volleyball Festival Finals and set the standards winning all their six matches last Tuesday followed closely by Tiffin Girls.
The event involved 50 girls (8 teams) from four schools (Tolworth Girls, Tiffin Girls, Holy Cross and Coombe Girls). All four schools received three weeks of coaching from Richmond Volleyball (a clubmark club) preparing them for the competition. On the match day each team played each other once over two sets – a total of 28 matches
The top four teams will meet again on the 8th July at Coombe Girls for the first Kingston Borough Schools Volleyball Championship Finals and teams finishing 5th to 8th will also compete in the Borough Play-Off Finals.
Richmond Volleyball was delighted on how well volleyball has been received in the schools. Schools brought full squads and coaching sessions were well attended. It’s such a positive step for Richmond Volleyball to be linked to Kingston Schools developing a dynamic and exciting Olympic sport in the community.
Richmond Volleyball would like to express thanks to Kingston Schools Sports Partnership, Richmond coaches and Young Sport Leaders from Coombe Girls and Tiffin Girls who helped on the day making the event a great success.
