Double wins for Richmond
14th March 2008
It was a busy week-end for the Richmond Men’s 2nd team. Last Friday they hosted a Surrey League match against Wimbledon and came out victorious by 3 sets to nil.
Richmond’s 9 player squad had all the resources in place for a good battle. The first two sets were an easy win 25:14 and 25:12 which made them think that the deal was closed. However, a huge group of Wimbledon supporters managed to raise the visitors’ spirits in the third set and they pushed the score into the twenties. At 27:25 Richmond put a full stop to this match.
On Sunday the Richmond team traveled to play Dorking Dwarfs. It was another straight sets victory with both service and attacks too powerful for any defence the home team could offer.
Captain Neil Kenyon comments: “We have only a few more matches to play but the results might mean the difference between promotion and staying in the same division next year. The team has a strong attacking edge and with a new setter we will use this power to our advantage”.
Team List:
Neil Kenyon, Marek Sokolowski, Andreas Koelblin, Carlos Lopes, Paul Bielecki, Evan Penglis, Dave Nash, Tom Shaw, Sam Philips and Tom Phillips.
Final Result: Richmond [3] v Wimbledon [0]
Final Result: Dorking Dwarfs [0] v Richmond [3]
