Richmond had a 2 key players (Mirek Pinkowski and Giorgio Scatigna-Gianfagna) missing due to injury but had little trouble in sweeping aside Hillingdon. Tiago Oliveria set the example by crushing the ball on the opponents side with little response taking a fairly tight first 1st set 25-20. In the 2nd Hillingdon began to show their class and were determined not to be out played and won the 2nd set 25-21.
But in the 3rd set Richmond applied some more pressure with strong serving from Evan Penglis and Carlos Lopez and won 27-17. In the 4th Hillingdon showed little resistance with Richmond coming on top 25-14. Richmond coach David Rijvers was pleased with the commitment by the players in training and this is now showing on court with a convincing result against a top three team.
