Grey retain U16 Richmond Schools Championship Trophy

Grey Court were worthy champions at the borough volleyball championship finals. Teams of youngsters from secondary schools across the borough battled it out to take the top slot at the u16’s Competitive Edge Championships.
The event at St Mary’s University College saw 80 pupils in eight teams go head-to-head with Grey Court winning the
trophy.
Richmond Junior Coordinator praised the Richmond’s Competitive Edge project which has spectacularly increased involvement by local schoolchildren in competitive volleyball. Many of the boys and girls will be considered to represent u15 Richmond boys & girls teams in the U15 National Junior Championships with the 1st rounds starting in February 2008.
Richmond would like to express thanks to the staff of St Mary’s College for hosting this competition, Richmond Schools Sport Partnership, PE teachers, School Sport Coordinators, Richmond coaches and all the sport leaders who helped on the day with their competent refereeing, scoring and recording duties.

How to get involved in volleyball
Richmond Volleyball has an open volleyball session in Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre on Sunday’s from 4.30-6pm (beginner level) and from 6-8pm (intermediate and advance level).
Richmond Volleyball also offers a Saturday Morning Junior Volleyball Club held at Waldegrave School from 9.00 to 11.00 am. Age groups are from 9 to 15 years old.
