Youth out gun Seniors
18th November 2007
Richmond Volleyball men’s 2nd team are very much a new team with little experience but on the whole young, strong and tall (the latter a considerable attribute in volleyball) entertained Teddington Tigers in a Surrey League match fixture.
Most of the opposition teams consists of rather wily players of considerable experience and the matches that have been played so far have been close fought and lengthy.
Richmond were taken to 5 sets by Teddington Tigers, who are lead by Darren Parr, a well known local player/coach, but Richmond won the match mainly due to excellent blocking, especially by Sam and his brother Tom Phillips (both representing u17 England South).
Richmond now lie third in the Surrey League Men’s Division 3. Man of the match was Andreas Koelblin who played well in all positions on the front row.
Team List:
Andreas Koelblin, Artem Staponas, Neil Kenyon, Sam Phillips, Dave Nash, Marek Sokolowski, Walid Odah
Final Result: Richmond [3] v Teddington Tigers [2]
Set Results:
Richmond's Player of the Match:: Andreas Koelblin
