Hampton and Orleans progress to u16 borough finals

Congratulations went to Hampton CC who topped their cluster group in the u16 Richmond Schools Volleyball festival
final winning over Orleans Park 3-0, Waldegrave 3-0 and Whitton 3-0.
Orleans Park finished 2nd after a 2-1 win over Whitton and 3-0 win over Waldegrave. Hampton and Orleans Park will now meet Group B winners and runners up to be played at St Mary’s on 7th December. Group B finals will be held on 23rd November.
This was the 1st of two cluster Richmond Schools Volleyball Finals for year 10
and 11 before they all meet in the borough championship finals. The Cluster A Final involved 60 children and all the teams were mixed showed amazing improvement in technical skills and understanding of the game. It was not easy on a Friday afternoon to sustain required level of focus and agility and some sets were more exciting than others; all teams played each other once over three sets.
In partnership with Competitive Edge, Richmond Volleyball Club delivered four weeks of volleyball coaching to four schools (Waledegrave, Whitton, Orleans Park and Hampton CC) and then prepared the schools for competitive matches.
Richmond Junior Coordinator praised the Richmond’s Competitive Edge project which has spectacularly increased involvement by local schoolchildren in competitive volleyball. This is an exciting time for Richmond Volleyball many of these players will be representing Richmond in the U15’s National Junior Championships this season.
Richmond would also like to express thanks to sport leaders from Orleans Park, Waldegrave and St Mary’s who helped on the day. Without their help the event would not have been so successfully. They supported the event with their competent refereeing, scoring and recording duties.

How to get involved in volleyball
Richmond Volleyball has an open volleyball session in Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre on Sunday’s from 4.30-6pm (beginner’s) and from 6-8pm (intermediate and advance level)
