3rd September 2007
Following its popularity last year, Richmond Volleyball delivered another
successful Summer of Sport Volleyball programme sponsored by the Mayor of London
in partnership with Sport England. The 6 week volleyball event was held at Kingston Arena providing excellent facilities and friendly staff. The aim of Richmond ‘s Summer of Sport was to give people the opportunity to try out volleyball of all ages and fitness levels for FREE.
During the 6 weeks Richmond’s coaches coached 40 players (26 men and 14 women) ranging from u15 to over 60+. An increase of 50% from last year. The success has enabled Richmond Volleyball to create 2 new adult teams to an already existing 12 teams.
Richmond Volleyball caters for seniors, students and juniors competing in national, regional and local competitions. The vision of the club is to compete in the top national league for men and women by 2011.
The Chairman of Richmond Volleyball was extremely grateful for the grant received from the Mayor of London and the support received from our local media partners providing valuable coverage on the world’s 2nd most participate team sport in the world (source FIVB – International Federation of Volleyball). We would also like to thank the borough councils for their continuous support helping us build a volleyball culture in our community.
Richmond Volleyball is starting again their open volleyball sessions in Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre on Sunday’s from 6-8pm (intermediate and advance level) and from Sunday 16th September a new beginner’s session from 4.30-6pm.
