Stan Teams' up with the Mayor of Kingston
23rd July 2007
Last Sunday Richmond Volleyball continued their summer road show at the Kingston Festival of Sport held at Canbury Gardens (Lower Ham Road).
The theme is to set-up a court in the middle of the busy festival and offer supervised coaching for all the family promoting a friendly and fun atmosphere. It proved again that volleyball was a very hard to resist for a number of children and adults and with the inclusion of ‘Stan the Stag’ providing some great entertainment teaming up with the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
Councillor Shiraz Mirza; the day turned out to be a great success.
The Kingston Festival of Sport was organised by Kingston Council as part of their Summer of Sport programme and was a one day event to raise awareness of sport and leisure opportunities available in Kingston. A wide variety of sports were represented by many members of local clubs providing the opportunity for the public to try out a variety of sports with qualified coaches.
Our focus was to increase awareness of volleyball in Kingston Borough and to build positive relationships with community
commented Club Chairman. In the last 18 months Richmond Volleyball has established a very successful schools volleyball programme
with all 8 secondary schools in Richmond and hope to replicate this programme in Kingston very soon. Thanks to Kingston Council for making this an enjoyable success.
