NewsBack to Basics at Vineyard School
The day’s coaching started with 29 students from year 6 (10-11 years old), followed by another class of 30 students from year 6. In the afternoon the coaches worked with 30 students from year 5 (9 to 10 years old) and then another class of 30 students from year 5.
In total the Richmond coaches managed to work with approximately 120 children, some of them for the first time in their lives, had experienced this Olympic team game. The interest was undoubtedly boosted by fantastic presentation by Deborah Lane, a teacher at the Vineyard School, who prepared the pupils for this event.
Richmond’s Junior Development Officer commented the introduction of volleyball in Richmond primary schools is an important step in supporting the Competitive Edge volleyball program which proved very successful working with all Richmond secondary schools.
Richmond Volleyball is keen to deliver more taster / demonstration sessions to primary schools in Richmond and surrounding areas. The aim is to increase the opportunity for young people to participate in volleyball activities. If you are wondering how to amuse your children during the summer holidays - get them involved in our Summer Volleyball Camps! They are great fun packed with lots of activities. To booked a place on this very popular camps contact us as soon as possible. Spaces are limited to the first 35 applicants. We strongly recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment. Whitton School from Monday 6th August to Friday 10th August (age group 11 - 14 year olds); and St Mary’s University College from Mon 20th August to Thurs 23rd August (age group 8 to 10 year olds).
