Disappointment for u17 Richmond teams in London Youth Games

Team Richmond set off to Crystal Palace National Sports Centre last weekend for the 1st round of the 2007 London Youth Games in the hope of becoming London borough volleyball champions. The games are held every year over a weekend in June and July open to all 33 borough within Great London with 35 different sports.
In the girls event 18 borough teams entered and after a days play Richmond girls finished 5th. Unfortunately girl’s team did not qualify for the final round. The girls volleyball semi finals will be against Havering v Newham and Waltham Forest v Wandsworth.
In the boys event 20 borough teams competed and Richmond Boys finished the day’s play 10th. Again the boys team were unable to match their success last year and compete in the final four. This year’s semi finals will be against be Havering v Newham and Waltham Forest v Wandsworth.
The Richmond volleyball teams is organised by Carol Gordon & Richmond Volleyball who coaches the u19 Junior Squads at Richmond College and supported by Richmond Borough’s Sports Development Team.
Richmond Volleyball would like to say a big thank you to all team managers, volunteers, parents and participants for their contribution. Richmond Volleyball is committed to increasing participation in competitive sport, and these talented youngsters are a fine example of what can be achieved.
