Too Hot to Handle (Richmond Women 1st Team)
15th April 2007
In their struggle to avoid relegation from the Premier Division in the London Regional League, Richmond Volleyball Ladies
1st team were under pressure this Sunday to bag their first win in the home match vs International.
They took to the court composed and determined approach and did more than enough to claim the 3:0 victory. Richmond Ladies are known for their strong attacking skills and this match was no different.
The opposition simply could not find an answer to over the block hits by Martina Zajichkova, fast shots by Kelly Jones, clever combinations by Katarina Mohsen and unexpected powerfull attacks from the right wing by Claudia Fezer. The game was tightly weaved by the team setter, Vera Kenyon, who recently came back on court after an injury.
Kelly Jones, the team’s captain, commented that communication on court was superb and all players were focused to the end of the last set. Richmond will need to repeat this performance at least twice in 4 remaining matches to be safe in the Premier pool.
Team List: Claudia Fezer, Katarina Mohsen, Deborah Lane, Lynn Hales, Martina Zajichkova, Miriam Piterkova, Vera Kenyon (Coach), Vanessa Lavelle, Lynn Hales, Kelly Jones, and Rose Johnston.
