St Mary's Men Win BUSA Promotion!

St Mary’s University College Men’s Volleyball team is promoted from their BUSA South East Conference Men 3A Division. During the course of the season the St Mary’s men played six matches and won four which gave them top spot and promotion to 2A Division after their nearest rivals London Metropolitan University lost to Brunel University. This league was a closely contested league with Brunel finishing 3rd with three wins, London Metropolitan finishing 2nd with four wins and St Mary’s finishing 1st also on four wins, plus a better set difference.
Commenting on the success of Richmond Volleyball partnership with St Mary’s Volleyball teams, Richmond's Club Chairman said, ‘We are very pleased with the progress we have made in the last 12 months. When we started the St Mary’s partnership the volleyball set-up was very weak and both men and women teams were placed in bottom half in the BUSA leagues. The aim of the relationship is to create one of London's principal volleyball hubs for junior and senior development.
Within 12 months the coaching delivered by Richmond Volleyball has seen the student training numbers grow from 12 to 30, the teams are competing and developing better technical skills. Furthermore, St Mary’s students are integrating well into the Richmond Volleyball club with Rob Snart and Justin Robertson receiving call-up’s into Richmond Men’s 1st team.
