Secondary School-Club Links

Since Richmond Volleyball introduced Volleyball to Richmond Secondary Schools in February 2006 the sport has grown significantly and has become one of the of the top three sports in the borough.

As a direct result of our efforts volleyball is now an established major sport on the PE agenda for 27 secondary schools, across 4 boroughs. The main outcome of our work in the community is to increase participation and raising the level of training and competition.

As part of this initiative Richmond Volleyball delivers a number of coaching sessions (mornings, lunch-time, after-school and during curriculum time) and organises borough and inter-borough competitions for various cluster age groups.

The progress made by Richmond Volleyball shows the importance of good practice. Richmond Volleyball would like to thank all SSP and all the teachers involved who are working very hard with us to improve volleyball standards in the community.

The next step once schools have successfully taken part in Richmond Volleyball coaching and competition programme or equivalent is to iintroduce the players to our development centre held at Tiffin Boys School. This pathway will offer the opportunity for our young people to have a healthy and safe alternative for their time outside of school and will also help coaches to identify players to develop into Richmond Junior Teams.
