Primary School-Club Links
Every year Richmond Volleyball delivers taster / demonstration sessions to primary schools in Richmond, Kingston and
surrounding areas. Sometimes it is the first opportunity for young people to participate in volleyball activities run by professional
volleyball coaches. The best time to run such a presentation is in the summer term when we can set up nets outside
and involve as many children as possible without space restrictions.
Normally the focus is on Years 5 and 6.
The aim is an early introduction of volleyball in a fun and challenging way and setting a basis for further development through
the secondary school programmes later.
Usually after the first taster session, schools would be looking into establishing a before-school,
lunch-time and/or after-school club. This can be run with minimum space and equipment - dining halls or assembly
halls and badminton posts
and nets.
