London Youth Games

All Richmond Volleyball junior players are encouraged to apply for a team in the London Youth Games to represent the London Borough where he/she lives or goes to school in. In the past years Richmond Volleyball coaches were working with teams representing Kingston and Hounslow Boroughs.
The London Youth Games started in 1978, and embraced over 21,000 young Londoners competing in 30 different sports. The Games were the starting point of sporting careers of some great competitors such as Linford Christie, John Regis, Steve Beckley, Ashley Cole, Ledley King and Anne Keothavong.

In London Youth Games 2010 for the first time Kingston Girls Volleyball team reached the Final and narrowly missed the top spot to Croydon. To watch this thriller of a match click VIDEO
Anastasya Fokina, the Captain of Team Kingston 2010, has been nominated as individual for Kingston Borough Annual Sports Awards for commitment, attitude, support and encouragement in the team, and received Neil Desai Award as a Sport Personality.

Although LYG Squads training is schedulled in May, if you want to get involved in your Borough team, you can start training now. Please check venues, days and time of our regular training sessions in the left menu.

TRAINING for Team Kingston will start on Saturday, 7 May 2011 at Tiffin Boys School 10am-12noon and will be running every Saturday till 25 June 2011(total 8 sessions). You are expected to attend this sessions to be considered for the squad.
