Young Volleyball Leaders Award
This award forms an integral part of the Volleyball England ‘Lets Play Volleyball’
National Youth Initiative and aims to provide young leaders with a basic knowledge of volleyball and to develop
their skills and confidence in introducing all aspects of the game safely.
The ability to officiate and organise small-sided games, events and tournaments is also developed in this course
as an essential element of sport leadership.
Who is the course suitable for?
Year 10 (Key Stage 4) and above students, young club members or anyone wishing to develop their leadership
skills through coaching, refereeing and organising community volleyball activity.
The award can also be embedded as a module in a number of school or further education courses:
•BTEC Edecel First Certificate/Diploma in Sport (Unit 5 Planning and leadering Sports Activities)
•OCR level 2 National Certificate in Sport (Unit 3 Effective Sports Leadership)
•City and Guilds 6951 Level 1-2 Sport and Leisure

Upon completion of this course the young people will :
•know about the Volley Sport Cards and VolleySport Award Scheme
•be able to lead a volleyball specific warm up
•be able to organise a volleyball festival
•be able to referee small sided games
•be able to organise and run simple volleyball practice
•be able to establish safe training environment

• Step into Sport Volunteers Award
• UKCC Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Volleyball
