Young Volleyball Leaders Award

The aim is to provide young leaders with a basic knowledge of volleyball, and to develop their skills and confidence to introduce and develop aspects of the game safely. The ability to officiate and organise small-sided games, events and tournaments is also recognised as an essential element of sport leadership that needs to be developed in young people.

This award forms an integral part of the Volleyball England ‘Lets Play Volleyball’ National Youth Initiative and complements other opportunities including officiating, festivals, camps, teacher training and skills awards. The Volleyball Leaders award will help young people to develop valuable leadership skills and learn a life long love for volleyball.

Who is the course suitable for?
Year 10 (Key Stage 4) and above students, young club members or anyone wishing to develop their leadership skills through coaching, refereeing and organising community volleyball activity.

The award can also be embedded with an number of school or further education courses of study on leadership.
•BTEC Edecel First Certificate/Diploma in Sport (Unit 5 Planning and leadering Sports Activities)
•OCR level 2 National Certificate in Sport (Unit 3 Effective Sports Leadership)
•City and Guilds 6951 Level 1-2 Sport and Leisure

What are the outcomes of the course?

•know about the Volley Sport Cards and VolleySport Award Scheme
