Scholarships

Richmond Volleyball has forged links with St Mary’s University College (Twickenham) to offer scholarships to students (men and women) who demonstrate sporting volleyball excellence and provide a sufficient training environment with Richmond National Volleyball League teams. The University College is recognised as London's top-performing sports institution.

Students will be expected to maintain their high levels of achievement and to contribute to the ethos and mission of St Mary’s as well as acting as an ambassador for sport. To be awarded a volleyball scholarship the key criteria is as follows:

•Applicants will need to be of junior international standard or equivalent.
•Applicants should demonstrate their potential to perform at the highest levels by providing evidence of their ongoing development and plans for the future.
•Applicants should be dedicated to their chosen sport and their training and provide evidence to this effect, e.g. their references.
•Sporting scholars must be prepared to represent the College in accordance with the demands and scheduling as agreed with the Director of Sport.

St Mary's will award £1,000 per volleyball scholar from the UK, EU and from outside the EU who is competing at junior international level or equivalent, or who have the potential to perform at the highest level.

St Mary's is involved in the development of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme. (TASS). TASS is a government initiative to provide financial, technical and pastoral support for students who with to combine sport and academic careers. The scheme can provide up to £3000 per annum of scholarship funding for each student athlete.

St Mary’s University College offers a wide range of contemporary and more traditional foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, as well as an increasing variety of study opportunities for the community, through their continuing lifelong learning courses.
